First Day of School in ELCJHL Schools
Today is the first day of the new school year for our ELCJHL schools! We are so proud of our students and teachers and we look forward to another year of learning and growing together. For another year, the teachers and students of Gaza are not able to begin the school year as they should. Many students in the West Bank are unable to reach their classrooms due to Israeli checkpoints and barricades. ELCJHL Teachers Attend Workshops for New School Year
For the past week, teachers and staff in our ELCJHL schools have been hard at work preparing for the return of students. Several workshops covering a wide range of educational topics were planned by the ELCJHL Education Office and attended by over 100 teachers in preparation for the new school year. ELCJHL Ecclesiastical Court Meets
Under the patronage of Bishop Dr. Sani Ibrahim Azar, the ELCJHL implemented a session for the ELCJHL Ecclesiastical Court judges hosted by the ELCJHL Gender Justice Ministry. This was part of a series of meetings bringing the pastors and the Ecclessiatical Court judges together to discuss key issues, share perspectives, and exchange experiences. ELCJHL Hosts LuthMUN
Under the patronage of Bishop Dr. Sani Ibrahim Azar, the Education Office of the ELCJHL held the 8th Annual Lutheran Model United Nations Conference from August 13-14th in Talitha Kumi Lutheran School. Each year, students from the ELCJHL schools participate in international and national Model United Nations conferences. On Sunday, June 22nd, as more than 150 clergy and faithful were gathered for worship at Mar Elias Greek Orthodox Church in Damascus, three attackers first shot at the church door before storming inside, with one finally blowing himself up as the other two fled.
